# Preparation Steps:
01 - Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
03 - Pour melted dark chocolate onto the prepared sheet, spreading to a rough rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
04 - Refrigerate for 10 minutes until just set but not hard.
05 - Melt white chocolate using the same method, then stir in peppermint extract if using.
06 - Pour melted white chocolate over chilled dark chocolate, spreading evenly.
07 - Immediately sprinkle crushed peppermint candies and optional garnishes over white chocolate, pressing lightly to adhere.
08 - Refrigerate 20 to 30 minutes until completely set.
09 - Break or cut the bark into irregular pieces.
10 - Arrange shards loosely on a wooden board for guests to share.
